FAME PHASE II LAUNCHES 50 E-BUSES

As part of the FAME India Phase II scheme of the Ministry of Heavy Industries, 50 electric buses were launched in Delhi. A total of Rs 10,000 crore has been approved by the government in 2019. Phase-II of the FAME Scheme has been approved by the government with an outlay of Rs. 10,000 Crore over a three-year period beginning on 1st April 2019. About 86 percent of the budgetary support will go to creating demand for xEVs in the country through the Demand Incentive. During this phase, demand will be generated by providing 7000 electric buses, 5 lakh electric three-wheelers, 55000 electric four-wheeler passenger cars (including strong hybrids) and 10 lakh electric two-wheelers. Since the provision has been made for inter and intra segment fungibility, these numbers may vary depending on how many units are sold of each category of xEVs. As part of the FAME India Phase II scheme of the Ministry of Heavy Industries, 50 electric buses were launched in Delhi. A three-year loan of Rs. 10,000 crore was approved by the government in 2019. Their low running costs and the fact that they do not burn fossil fuels (petrol or diesel) make them very environmentally friendly. Pollution, global warming, and depletion of natural resources can be solved by these vehicles. Vehicles with advanced batteries and registered titles will be incentivized under the program. To provide affordable & environmentally friendly public transportation options for the masses, this scheme will be applicable mostly to vehicles registered for commercial use in the owned registered e-2Ws are also covered under the scheme as a mass segment. Some important facts include: The government has ordered 3,538 electric buses, according to Union Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey. As of now, 1,716 buses have been deployed. Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), for intra-city operations, and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), for last-mile connectivity, were each given 400 electric buses in August 2019. In fulfillment of MHI's commitment to provide 300 electric buses to DTC, 250 buses have already been deployed by DTC and 50 are now on the road.
