Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has announced the pricing for its subscription program called Meta Verified. The program, which was announced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg last month, will cost INR 1,450 per month for the mobile version and INR 1,099 for the web version. The program will give users a blue tick on their profiles across both Facebook and Instagram on Android and iOS. Users who opt for Meta Verified will also have access to features such as direct account support, proactive account security, and protection against impersonation. However, users must be at least 18 years of age and will need to provide a selfie and a government ID to be verified. Meta is currently beta-testing the subscription model in select geographies, and interested users will need to join a waiting list to get their accounts verified. The move comes after Meta fired 21,000 employees over two layoffs in November 2022 and March 2023, and in its latest reported quarter, its net income declined 55% to $4.6 Bn.
