BetterPlace’s acquisition of TROOPERS, a Malaysian flexi talent solutions technology player. This acquisition is a strategic move for BetterPlace to ramp up its presence in the region and establish a stronger foothold in Southeast Asia. By integrating TROOPERS’ automated gig matching and rostering features into its comprehensive SaaS platform, BetterPlace will be able to offer its clients in the region more effective blue-collar workforce management solutions. BetterPlace’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform helps its clients handle the entire lifecycle of their blue-collar workforce, including hiring, background verification, digital onboarding, training, attendance management, payroll services, and compliance services.

The company has reported significant revenue growth, with a five-fold increase to Rs 275 crore in FY22, and it aims to achieve a three-fold growth in revenue in FY23. The acquisition of TROOPERS follows BetterPlace’s recent expansion in the region, including its acquisition of Indonesia’s leading blue-collar workforce fulfillment platform, MyRobin, in February 2023. The company’s successful Series C+ fundraise of $40 million in December 2022 from new and existing investors, including Jungle Ventures and British International Investment, will likely enable it to further expand its operations and offerings in the region. It’s interesting to note that TROOPERS offers on-demand, pre-screened, part-time frontline workers to enterprises, helping them to scale up their gig workforce based on operational demands. This model enables companies to quickly and easily find qualified workers on a part-time or as-needed basis, rather than having to hire full-time employees. TROOPERS’ platform has reportedly helped over 50,000 gig workers in Malaysia find gig opportunities since its inception, which is a significant achievement. By integrating TROOPERS’ automated gig matching and rostering features into its SaaS platform, BetterPlace will be able to offer its clients in the region even more effective solutions for managing their blue-collar workforce.
