Online classifieds platform OLX is reportedly laying off 15 of its global pool, which is anticipated to impact about500 workers. The Prosus- owned company has over 15000 workers encyclopedically, as per its website, with services in India, Bulgaria, South Africa, Poland, Ukraine, among others. The development was reported by Financial Express. Attesting the development with Financial Express, a company prophet said that OLX would be reducing pool across all countries, business units, and job functions. The Indian incipiency ecosystem was also hit by the macroeconomic headwinds and backing downtime, performing in startups laying off over thousands of workers in 2022.
The change of time failed to change the situation, with startups like Ola, LEAD, Harappa Education and Unacademy firing workers in 2023. Tech titans similar to Amazon, Google, and Microsoft also declared ayoffs in the new time. While the exact number of Indian workers being let go couldn’t be incontinently caught on , one of the people cited over said the engineering and operations brigades are among the worst megahit in the country. The company operates Olx and Olx motors in India and has over 20 other brands worldwide. Replying to FE’s queries, a company prophet said, “We can confirm that OLX is reducing its global pool by 15 per cent which impacts staff across all countries, business units and job functions”. “OLX is taking necessary measures to reduce its cost structure in light of changing macroeconomic conditions.
Regrettably, this means we’re reducing the size of our pool across the company. We’re sorry to part ways with these precious contributors, but doing so is necessary to meet our unborn intentions. Icing that our workers are treated fairly and with quality and respect is at the van of our attention at this time,” the prophet added.
