The Osaka Business Development Agency, in collaboration with the Keihanshin Startup Ecosystem Consortium and JETRO Osaka, is proud to present the inaugural “Kansai Startup Mashups” global events, taking place in February 2023 in Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe. This month-long series of events will provide an opportunity for local startups to showcase their projects and learn from international experts.
The event will kick off with The First Global Event in Kyoto on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. At this event, three startups chosen by J-Startup KANSAI (*2) sponsored by the Kinki Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry will pitch their projects to the audience. There will also be a panel discussion with Mr. Victor Mulas, independent advisor, and Mr. Adam Bregu, Director of Startup Genome, a company that conducts research on startup ecosystems.
On Friday, February 17, 2023, GET IN THE RING OSAKA 2023 – Health Tech‘s Japan Qualifier will take place as part of the “Kansai Startup Mashups” series. This global pitch event will feature startups from the Kansai region competing to reach the international round.
The annual international innovation conference Hack Osaka 2023 will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. This event will provide a platform to discuss the latest trends in technology and highlight the opportunities available in the Kansai region. Finally, THE NEXT KITCHEN, a business matching program with European food tech companies, will be held in Kobe in February.
Through the “Kansai Startup Mashups” series, the Osaka Business Development Agency, Keihanshin Startup Ecosystem Consortium, and JETRO Osaka are committed to creating a world-class startup ecosystem in anticipation of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo and post-Kansai Expo. The goal is to foster the birth of unicorn companies from the Kansai region and support startups as they grow to become major players.
