Eruditus Executive Chairman and co-founder Chaitanya Kalipatnapu said in an interview with Inc42 that the education space is different from the e-commerce sector, and it is challenging to build an education business like Amazon or Flipkart. He explained that in education, building trust with customers takes a lot of time, and the sales cycle is longer, as compared to e-commerce. Also, the customers are not shopping for a commodity, but they are making an investment in their careers, which requires careful consideration and planning. Kalipatnapu added that Eruditus’ focus has been on building a reputation for quality in the education space, which is critical for long-term success. He said that Eruditus partners with top-tier universities to offer executive education programmes, and the company invests heavily in ensuring the quality of its programmes. Eruditus has raised $330 million to date and was valued at $3.2 billion after its latest funding round in October 2021.
