Col Krishan Singh Badhwar, Sm  ran 100 KM in Shaheed Run to pay tribute to brave soldiers of the Indian Army

Shaheed Run 2023 was organized grandly on 9th April. The marathon was not only a fun event but also an opportunity to promote healthy living and sports. The presence of Chief Guests Station Commander, Brigadier Anirban Dutta, and CEO Cantonment Board Mr. Abhinav Singh Ji added charm to the event.

Organized by NBT Marathon with support of Dehradun Cantonment Board, this Doon Valley Shaheed Run was one of the best marathons of Dehradun. The founder of NBT Mr. Ravi Kumar organized this event with a spirit of patriotism. Last year, he was awarded the title of Youngest Marathon Organizer for organizing the first edition of the Doon Valley Marathon

For the event, the Jaswant ground and roads ( for the marathon) were cleaned two days in advance and will also be cleaned by the Dehradun Cantt Board after the event. Their collective efforts made this Shaheed Run 2023 the country’s first zero-waste event. The waste collected in the marathon has been given for recycling, from which running tracks will be made at Jaswant Ground.

Mr. Ranjit Chaturvedi, the founder of Project Atmanirbhar, and the guests of the program, Colonel Krishna Singh Badhwar, SM, Colonel Gurung, Mr. SitaRam Jee, and Mr. Ravi Kumar started the program by laying the wreath to the soldiers of the country at Shaurya Asthal.

During the event, 3 world record holders were felicitated by Station Commander Brig Anirban Dutta for covering a distance of 2022 km in 90 days. At the age of more than 60 years, Col. Anil Gurung (Retd.), Capt. Gopal Rana (Retd.), and Mr. Pushpendra Panwar Ji,  traveled from Dehradun to Leh and from Leh back to Dehradun on bicycles.

Col Krishan Singh Badhwar, SM, the Brand Ambassador of Doon Valley Shaheed Run, paid tribute to the soldiers of the country by covering a distance of 100 km a day before the event and participated in the race the next day with other ambassadors, namely Mr. Binay Shah, Major Shashi Mehta, and Mr. Deepak Sharma paid tribute to the martyrs.

It was great to see so many runners of different ages and skill levels come together to challenge themselves, have fun, and experience the beauty of our city. Several rest and water stations along the route, as well as medical stations, ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

There were a total of 84 winners in this marathon including the age categories of the four categories who were honored with trophies by the guests. There were a total of 16 winners in the open category, out of which 9 participants were from the Indian Army. These 16 men and women runners were honored with trophies and gift hampers.

All the participants who came to the event were encouraged by giving them certificates and medals.
