In a significant political development, Bihar is poised to witness a shift in power dynamics with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) likely to have two deputy Chief Ministers in the upcoming government formed in collaboration with Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) or JD(U). The names circulating for these key positions are BJP Bihar state unit president Samrat Choudhary and the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly Vijay Sinha.
The announcement of this development came from Bihar BJP spokesperson Sumit Shashank, confirming that Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha are set to assume the roles of deputy Chief Ministers in the state. This revelation followed Nitish Kumar’s resignation, which he submitted to Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar, along with the declaration of the termination of ties with the Mahagathbandhan in the state.
The BJP’s decision to form a government in Bihar with JD(U) and other allies underscores their commitment to the mandate received in 2020. The focus is on the development of Bihar and putting an end to what they term as the “terror of Lalu Yadav.” Samrat Choudhary emphasized the party’s support for Nitish Kumar’s proposal to prevent the recurrence of the so-called “Jungle Raj” in Bihar.
Former Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda for their decision to include Nitish Kumar in the NDA alliance. Jaiswal highlighted that this move was taken to safeguard the interests of the people of Bihar, preventing a scenario akin to West Bengal. He acknowledged the potential risks of a “jungle raj” from 1990-2005 and asserted that this decision was essential to prevent its recurrence.
Samrat Choudhary, upon being elected as the legislative party leader in Bihar, extended his thanks to the BJP, Prime Minister Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. His acknowledgment reflects a sense of unity within the party and a collective commitment to the future governance of Bihar.
This political realignment in Bihar showcases strategic decision-making by the BJP, emphasizing the importance of stability, development, and ensuring the welfare of the people. As the state anticipates a new government under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and the BJP, the political landscape in Bihar undergoes a notable transformation.
