Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group and one of the biggest commercial vehicle manufacturers in India, has launched a digital platform called Re-AL that will enable customers to sell used commercial vehicles and exchange them for new Ashok Leyland trucks and buses. The platform also allows customers to list their vehicles for sale. Ashok Leyland aims to increase transparency in the ‘disorganised’ used vehicle ecosystem and enhance the overall customer experience. The company plans to leverage its industry expertise and partnerships to scale up its digital transformation journey. The platform will offer users access to a variety of features, including validated documents and evaluation reports as well as verified images of the products.

The move comes amid growing competition from new-age tech companies such as CarDekho and Droom, which have launched specific subsidiaries catering to the trucks and buses markets, as well as other platforms such as OLX, Eicher, IndiaMART, and TrucksBuses that offer digital marketplaces that sell used trucks and buses. It seems that the used commercial vehicle market in India is becoming increasingly competitive with the entry of new-age tech companies like CarDekho and Droom, which have launched subsidiaries targeting the trucks and buses markets. In addition to this, other well-established platforms such as OLX, Eicher, IndiaMART, and TrucksBuses are also offering digital marketplaces that allow customers to buy and sell used trucks and buses. This has resulted in a highly fragmented market, where customers have multiple options to choose from when it comes to buying or selling used commercial vehicles.
