Microsoft CEO and Chairman Satya Nadella announced on Monday that OpenAI ex-employee Sam Altman and Greg Brockman will be joining Microsoft. He announced on X (formerly Twitter) that “We remain committed to our partnership with OpenAI and have confidence in our product roadmap, our ability to continue to innovate with everything we announced at Microsoft Ignite, and in continuing to support our customers and partners. We look forward to getting to know Emmett Shear and OAI’s new leadership team and working with them. And we’re extremely excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, together with colleagues, will be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team. We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources needed for their success.” This news came three days later after OpenAI board of members fired Sam Altman and in protest president Greg Brockman along with many staff member left the company. The news shock the tech industry.
Now Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella hired Sam ALtman and Greg Brockman for a new advanced AI research team. Altman react to the news with ‘Mission continue’. Earlier, Altman and Greg brockman join the executives at the OpenAI headquarters in San Francisco on November 19 by being invited by interim CEO Mira Murati according to the reports.
In a new report Board director Ilya Sutskever’s statement to the company staff that the Emmett Shear, ex-Twitch cofounder will become the new interim CEO of the company. There was no information by the official of the company about Mira Murati being replaced.
Sam Altman who co-founded the company in 2015 was surprisingly caught off guard by the decision, which also caught off the OpenAI investor Microsoft.
