The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT- M) will produce an INR 100 Cr Innovation and Entrepreneurship fund to support scholars and faculty’s efforts to set up startups. Further, IIT- M is looking to elevate the rank of at least five Centers of Excellence (CoE) to the top three in the globe, in their separate sectors, PTI reported. Speaking about IIT- M’s strategic plan for the period 2022-27, Pawan K Goenka, president of board of governors at IIT Madras, said the strategic plan will marshal in the coming phase of the institute’s hunt towards global excellence.
He further informed that the institute is looking to introduce new programmes in the coming five times. And, as per Goenka, by the end of 2027, the institute will be suitable to develop a structure to support similar programmes. “In the coming five times, we’d like to realise an IIT Madras with a diversified group of faculty, scholars and staff laboriously pursuing nationally applicable and internationally- recognised abecedarian and translational exploration.
As part of this vision, we’d like to have scholars from all corridors of India, especially pastoral India to be associated with them,” said V Kamakoti, director of IIT-M. The institute will roll out mongrel and online postgraduate programmes, and multidisciplinary PG programmes in colorful areas during 2022-27 period. It plans to launch programmes in health policy studies, computational linguistics, disability studies, environmental, digital and medical humanities. According to a statement, the institute is planning to introduce colorful new programs and academic outreach enterprises over the coming five times. These include launching mongrel and online postgraduate programs, as well as multidisciplinary postgraduate programs in colorful fields similar as health policy studies, computational linguistics, disability studies, environmental humanities, digital humanities, and medical humanities.
